Latakia Youth Event Celebrates Local Creativity and Talent
The “Al-Mashrou’ al-Ashir” (Tenth Project) district in the coastal city of Latakia recently hosted a vibrant community event titled “Effective Impact Creates.” Organized by the “Fa’al” foundation in partnership with local entities and under the patronage of the Latakia Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor, the gathering served as a showcase for the talents of Syrian children, adolescents, and young adults. The event was designed to bolster local spaces for creative expression, intellectual growth, and active social participation.
Throughout the evening, the program featured a diverse range of performances, including music, theatre, song, and sports. By providing an inclusive and secure environment, the organizers aimed to encourage participants to refine their creative skills and project their capabilities. The event represents a culmination of two years of developmental training and community-focused projects initiated by the Fa’al foundation, which seeks to establish the concept of a “cultural street” as a focal point for community cohesion.
Lilian Rajoub, representing the quality and control department at the foundation, emphasized that the activities were executed by a volunteer corps of university students. This model highlights the role of the younger generation as a foundational pillar for national development, demonstrating their capacity for initiative and their active contribution to shaping the future of the country. According to organizers, the program intentionally integrated artistic, athletic, and digital dimensions to appeal to a broad spectrum of youth interests.
Institutional collaboration played a significant role in the event’s success. Batoul al-Qadar, media director for the “Manarat al-Ulama” (Beacon of Scientists) association, highlighted the partnership with the Fa’al foundation in identifying and nurturing young talent. Future plans for continued collaboration are already in development, with goals to launch choral performances, poetry debates, and specialized theatre programs aimed at skill development.
Educational institutions also played a key role in the initiative. Wahiba Bet Welad, principal of the Third School for Gifted Students in Latakia, stressed the importance of such events in developing students’ characters and enhancing social interaction among peers. The school maintains a long-standing cooperative relationship with the foundation, which includes providing free educational support sessions to help students overcome academic challenges. As part of this ongoing support, the foundation has facilitated free international computer driver license (ICDL) training and certifications for high-achieving students in the district. This initiative serves as part of a broader series of civil and community efforts aimed at creating a supportive environment for youth energy while encouraging volunteerism and institutional cooperation across the Latakia province.
