Road Maintenance Works Begin on Fafin-Um Hosh Route in Aleppo

The Technical Services Directorate in Aleppo Governorate has officially commenced comprehensive maintenance and paving works on the Fafin-Um Hosh road. This critical infrastructure project, which connects the city of Aleppo to the northern countryside toward Marea, aims to enhance traffic safety and streamline the movement of residents and commercial goods between the city and its northern suburbs.
According to the project supervisor from the Aleppo Technical Services Directorate, Engineer Ammar Boushi, the renovation scope is extensive. The project involves the maintenance and scraping of damaged sections along the 5,150-meter-long route. The technical plan includes spraying an adhesive bonding layer followed by the application of an asphalt surface with a minimum thickness of 6 centimeters. These measures are designed to significantly increase the road’s efficiency and durability, ensuring it can withstand the heavy daily traffic load.
Local officials have highlighted the strategic importance of this corridor. Omar Allawa, Deputy Head of the Fafin Town Council, emphasized that the road serves as a vital artery connecting the city of Aleppo to towns and villages in the northern countryside, reaching as far as Marea and Azaz. The completion of these works is expected to significantly improve the reliability of daily transportation and logistical support for these communities.
Residents have expressed optimism regarding the progress of the project. Bashir Ahmed Al-Ghajar noted that the road works will effectively resolve the long-standing difficulties faced by motorists due to potholes and infrastructure degradation accumulated over recent years. He further called for the continued rehabilitation of other service and tourism-related roads in the area, specifically mentioning the road leading to the Al-Shahba Dam.
Another resident, Anas Qandousa, expressed appreciation for the efforts exerted by the governorate and the Technical Services Directorate in restoring this essential route, which supports the transit of hundreds of vehicles every day.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to upgrade road infrastructure in the northern countryside. The Technical Services teams in Aleppo recently began rehabilitation and paving operations on the main road within the city of Tal Rifaat. Those works, initiated last Thursday, are intended to bolster infrastructure and improve traffic safety, further facilitating connectivity between the city and the main Aleppo-Azaz highway. By prioritizing the repair of these damaged transport links, local authorities aim to restore regional connectivity and foster improved economic movement throughout the northern Aleppo governorate.
