Syria, Belarus Explore Cooperation in Trade and Pharmaceuticals

The Syrian Federation of Chambers of Commerce held discussions with the representative of the Belarus Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Syria to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral trade and industrial cooperation. Anas Al-Bou, head of the Federation’s Foreign Relations Committee, met with Riad Hamad, the General Representative of the Belarus Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Syria, to deliberate on mechanisms to enhance economic relations between the two nations.

Key areas of focus during the meeting included the activation of joint business councils and the organization of reciprocal trade and investment delegations. According to the Federation, the discussions placed a significant emphasis on coordinating a future visit by a Syrian business delegation to Belarus. The primary objective of this proposed visit is to explore collaborative opportunities within the pharmaceutical industry. The agenda for the visit includes site tours of Belarusian manufacturing facilities and an examination of modern technologies utilized in the sector, aiming to facilitate the exchange of expertise and the development of Syria’s pharmaceutical industrial base.

Furthermore, both parties reviewed potential joint investment opportunities and strategies to foster a robust economic partnership. These efforts are part of the Federation’s ongoing initiatives to bridge the Syrian business community with counterparts in friendly nations, thereby opening new horizons for economic cooperation.

These recent discussions serve as a continuation of engagement efforts initiated earlier this year. In June, the Syrian Federation of Chambers of Commerce met with Anatoly Bugrienko, the Advisor for Economic and Trade Affairs and Deputy Head of Mission at the Belarusian Embassy in Damascus. Those consultations focused on improving communication protocols, facilitating bilateral visits, and expanding the scope of joint trade and investment. These cumulative meetings underscore a sustained commitment by both Damascus and Minsk to strengthen their ongoing trade and economic relations.
