One Dead, 18 Injured in Syrian Traffic Accidents Within 24 Hours

Syria has experienced a series of traffic accidents over the past 24 hours, resulting in one fatality and 18 injuries, according to data released by the Syrian Civil Defense. Field reports indicate that search and rescue teams responded to 14 separate road incidents across various regions.

Upon arriving at the scenes, emergency teams provided immediate first aid to the injured before transporting them to nearby hospitals for further medical care. Additionally, crews worked to clear debris from the roads to restore traffic flow and ensure the safety of both motorists and pedestrians.

In light of these incidents, the Civil Defense has renewed its calls for drivers to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and speed limits. Authorities emphasized the importance of regular vehicle maintenance, particularly checking braking systems and windshield wipers, as a critical measure to prevent such accidents. Furthermore, officials cautioned against common driving hazards, most notably the use of mobile phones, which remains a primary cause of driver distraction and subsequent road accidents.

These traffic incidents occurred during a particularly active period for the Civil Defense. Within the same 24-hour timeframe, teams also responded to 21 various fires, including blazes in residential homes, commercial shops, and occurrences involving dry grass, trees, and electrical wiring. The teams successfully extinguished these fires and cooled the sites, reporting only material damage with no loss of human life.

To mitigate the risk of future fires, the Civil Defense has issued strict warnings to the public. Citizens are urged to avoid starting fires in forested areas or near agricultural fields. Officials specifically highlighted the dangers of discarding cigarette butts or glass containers along roadsides, as these items are frequent catalysts for fires, especially under dry weather conditions or in close proximity to crops and woodlands.

The Civil Defense also advised citizens to refrain from burning dry grass near residential areas or road verges, urging them to utilize safer methods for waste disposal to preserve public safety and protect property. It is worth noting that just yesterday, the teams had also responded to 18 additional casualties resulting from a combination of traffic accidents and fire incidents across several regions.
