Seventh Convoy Returns 847 Displaced Families to Ras al-Ain

The seventh convoy for the return of displaced families to the city of Ras al-Ain and its surrounding countryside set off from Al-Hasakah governorate on Wednesday. This operation is part of the national voluntary return program adopted by the relevant authorities, involving 847 families who had been residing in shelters and displacement camps within Al-Hasakah.
Ahmad Al-Hilali, Deputy Governor of Al-Hasakah, stated that the repatriation process is being conducted in two stages. On Wednesday, 372 families who were living in shelters departed. The remaining 475 families, currently residing in displacement camps across the governorate, are scheduled to follow on Thursday. Al-Hilali emphasized that the governorate and the concerned authorities have implemented all necessary measures and arrangements to ensure the safety of the families as they travel to their original areas, noting the full coordination between the convoy organizing committees and local entities.
The Deputy Governor added that this initiative is part of a broader government strategy aimed at accelerating the return of displaced persons. The strategy focuses on coordinating with international organizations and relief institutions to provide essential aid. These efforts are designed to meet the fundamental needs of the returning families and assist them in restoring stability in the towns and villages they previously left.
The voluntary return program was launched last August with the objective of facilitating the return of approximately 12,500 families to Ras al-Ain and its rural areas. This latest convoy follows six previous batches: the first included 413 families, the second 700, the third 520, the fourth 518, the fifth 385, and the sixth 645 families. The figures illustrate the continuity of the program and an increasing pace of return over recent months.
These movements are taking place within the context of Syrian state efforts to resolve the issue of internal displacement and to restore normal life to areas impacted by security conditions. These initiatives are being carried out in parallel with efforts to provide the essential services required to sustain the return of residents to their homes.
