Sabotage Attack Targets Jabsah Gas Pipeline in Al-Hasakah

A sabotage attack targeted the Jabsah gas export pipeline in the southern countryside of Al-Hasakah on Thursday, triggering a fire at the site. Oday Al-Satouf, director of the media office at the Syrian Petroleum Company, reported that the incident occurred in the ‘Al-Arabidi’ area, located approximately 60 kilometers from the city of Al-Shaddadi.
Immediately following the incident, technical teams and relevant personnel implemented emergency measures to secure the area. Crews closed sectional valves located before and after the strike point to control the flow of gas and prevent further spread. Teams from the Civil Defense and the Syrian Petroleum Company began working to extinguish the blaze, clearing the way for necessary maintenance and repair operations to return the line to service.
Regarding the timeline for repairs, Al-Satouf projected that maintenance work would be completed by the beginning of next week, allowing gas pumping and supply operations to return to normal. The official emphasized that the company is currently implementing alternative measures to secure the gas requirements for power generation plants, ensuring that their services continue without interruption. He also confirmed that the attack would have no impact on the supply of domestic cooking gas.
This incident occurs amid a series of recent attacks targeting oil infrastructure. Previously, the oil derivatives pipeline stretching from Baniyas to Homs was subjected to sabotage, resulting in a hole being punctured in the line within the ‘Hadida’ region. That leak forced authorities to close the Homs-Tartus highway in both directions and redirect traffic to alternative routes to ensure public safety while repairs were conducted. These developments highlight the ongoing security challenges facing Syria’s energy sector and critical infrastructure, as relevant authorities remain mobilized to mitigate the impact of such operations on the stability of service supplies for citizens and state facilities.
