358 Displaced Families Return to Ras al-Ain, Al-Hasakah

The city of Al-Hasakah witnessed the departure of the fifth convoy under the voluntary return program for families displaced from Ras al-Ain and its surrounding countryside on Tuesday. The convoy, consisting of 358 families, traveled to their areas of origin, marking another step in the series of operations aimed at facilitating the return of displaced residents to their villages and towns.
Dr. Mustafa Abdi, a member of the presidential team tasked with implementing the January 29 agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), stated that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to accelerate the repatriation of displaced persons. He noted that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the safe return of these families.
Abdi highlighted that field efforts have successfully secured approximately 75 villages in the Ras al-Ain countryside. This progress included the removal of landmines and remnants of war, which he identified as a fundamental prerequisite for establishing a safe environment for the returning families.
Regarding future steps, Abdi revealed that preparations are currently underway to finalize lists of approximately 150 families currently residing in Ras al-Ain. These families are scheduled to return to the city of Al-Hasakah within the coming few days. He further noted that a significant number of families previously displaced to Ras al-Ain have already begun returning to Al-Hasakah on their own during the recent period.
This fifth convoy serves as part of a broader series of return operations that began several months ago. In August, the first group of 413 families returned, followed by a second group of 700 families and a third group of 520 families. A fourth convoy, which departed last Thursday, included 518 families. These figures underscore the continued pace of the return program, which remains focused on rehabilitating the affected areas and creating the necessary conditions for residents to stabilize in their original hometowns.
