The Syrian Petroleum Company (SPC) participated in the 17th International Energy Forum (IEF17) held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. This engagement is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance its professional presence, exchange expertise with international counterparts, and engage with global organizations focused on the energy sector.
The Syrian participation was centered on the forum’s theme, “Energy Security and Common Objectives in a New Era.” The event served as a platform for dialogue between energy-producing and consuming nations, aiming to address global supply security and market stability amidst current challenges. The Syrian Petroleum Company noted that its presence at the forum was designed to explore collaborative opportunities to bolster the capabilities of Syria’s oil and gas sector, specifically focusing on the rehabilitation and development of its infrastructure.
Throughout the forum, discussions highlighted the critical role of investment in modern energy technologies and the necessity of securing reliable, affordable energy to ensure sustainable economic growth. The meeting, which brought together energy ministers, industry leaders, and heads of international organizations, underscored the importance of international partnerships in overcoming supply chain obstacles and enhancing the resilience of the global energy system.
During the opening of the forum, Saudi Minister of Energy Abdulaziz bin Salman emphasized that energy security is a shared responsibility requiring a high level of international coordination. He noted that the cost of failing to proactively prepare for market fluctuations could be significant for the global economy. He further stressed the importance of investing in all components of the energy system, ranging from refining and transportation capabilities to pipelines and essential infrastructure.
The Syrian delegation’s participation in this international event aligns with the state’s efforts to strengthen professional communication with regional and international partners.
