The SYNC’26 conference for technology and entrepreneurship concluded its activities on Saturday at the Damascus Opera House. The event, organized by the “SYNC” organization in coordination with the Ministry of Communications and Technology, featured a diverse program aimed at exploring the future of the digital landscape.
The second day of the conference included a series of specialized panel discussions and lectures. The sessions focused on critical topics such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and strategies for human capacity building within the technical sector. These dialogues also addressed vital themes, including the development of electronic payment infrastructure, the restructuring of human capital, and the role of modern technology in advancing the Syrian business environment.
The event drew significant participation from experts, specialists, and entrepreneurs from both within and outside Syria, including representatives from technology firms based in Germany, Canada, and the Gulf states. Over 2,000 participants, including developers, engineers, and students, attended the event, highlighting the importance of such forums in bridging the gap between talent and the professional business environment.
Khaled Al-Homsi, Director-General of the Syrian Telecommunications and Postal Regulatory Authority, emphasized that the level of interaction at the conference demonstrates a growing interest in Syria’s technical sector. He noted that the event provided a necessary platform for knowledge exchange between local Syrian expertise and expatriates. Al-Homsi highlighted the conference’s role in creating a varied technical space that brings together professionals from both public and private sectors, while commending the voluntary contributions made by participants to support the nation’s technological development.
Anton Al-Najjar, a member of the SYNC organization’s executive committee, explained that the organization aims to empower Syrian youth by integrating them into the digital labor market. This is being achieved through strategic partnerships with universities, academic institutions, and leading companies to provide recommendations that contribute to the sustainability of entrepreneurial projects.
On the sidelines of the closing day, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the companies “Syriatel” and “Yalla Go” to enhance cooperation in electronic payment and ride-hailing services. Yasser Kahf, CEO of Syriatel, stated that the agreement facilitates the exchange of expertise and supports digital economic development. Khaled Mustafa, founder and CEO of Yalla Go, added that the conference served as a significant opportunity to engage with Syrian talent and explore technical collaboration prospects.
