One Dead, 14 Injured in Traffic Accidents Across Syria

Various regions across Syria experienced a series of traffic accidents over the past 24 hours, resulting in human casualties. Authorities have issued renewed warnings to drivers, emphasizing the urgent need to adhere strictly to traffic safety regulations.
The Syrian Civil Defense reported that its teams responded to 12 traffic accidents across the country within the last day. These incidents resulted in the death of one individual and left 14 others with injuries of varying severity. Following the accidents, Civil Defense teams provided immediate first aid at the scenes before transporting the injured to nearby hospitals for necessary medical treatment. Furthermore, the teams cleared accident sites and secured the roads to restore traffic flow.
In a related advisory, the Civil Defense urged drivers to exercise extreme caution on the roads. The organization stressed the importance of reducing speed and strictly observing traffic regulations, particularly given current road conditions and weather factors. Drivers were also encouraged to conduct regular mechanical inspections of their vehicles, specifically checking the functionality of brakes and windshield wipers. Additionally, the Civil Defense highlighted the dangers of distracted driving—most notably the use of mobile phones—identifying it as one of the primary causes of accidents.
Separately, during the same 24-hour period, Civil Defense teams responded to 35 fires involving residential homes, commercial shops, agricultural land, trees, electrical wiring, and waste materials. The teams successfully extinguished the fires and cooled the affected areas. According to reports, these incidents caused only material damage, with no human casualties recorded.
The Civil Defense issued a public appeal for citizens to avoid lighting fires in forests and agricultural fields. Residents were also cautioned against discarding cigarette butts or glass containers along roadsides to prevent the outbreak of fires that could potentially spread to crops or private property.
These incidents occur amidst a high frequency of recorded road accidents. In the previous 24-hour period, the Civil Defense had documented 18 traffic accidents, which resulted in the deaths of two people and injuries to 17 others. These figures highlight the ongoing challenges regarding public safety on roads across various Syrian governorates.
