Fire Extinguished in Agricultural Lands Near Quneitra’s Saida Al-Jolan

Emergency and disaster management firefighting teams in Quneitra Governorate, with assistance from local residents, successfully extinguished a fire that broke out on Friday in agricultural lands surrounding the Al-Suwayseh junction near Saida Al-Jolan. Local sources reported that the fire originated in a large area of dry grass. Fueled by active winds in the region, the flames spread quickly, posing a significant risk to nearby fruit trees.

Upon receiving the report, firefighting units from the town of Al-Suwayseh were immediately dispatched to the scene. The teams began field operations to segment the fire zones and contain the active hotspots. Mosab Al-Nazzal, the lead firefighter on site, explained that the mission faced several challenges due to the terrain and the strong winds, which accelerated the spread of the flames. However, the rapid and intensive intervention by the fire crews, bolstered by the support of local residents, prevented the fire from causing major damage to the crops and fruit-bearing trees.

This incident is part of the ongoing efforts by civil defense teams in Quneitra Governorate to address the rising number of reports concerning grass and brush fires, particularly as weather conditions shift. The teams maintain a state of continuous readiness to protect agricultural lands, as well as both public and private facilities. These efforts are aimed at reducing material losses caused by such fires and preserving the vegetative cover throughout the governorate.
