Idlib Book Fair Embraces Digital Learning and Modern Solutions
The fourth edition of the Idlib Book Fair has marked a significant shift in how knowledge is presented, as digital technologies emerged as a primary partner to traditional printed books. This evolution reflects a broader expansion of reader options within the city’s cultural landscape, moving beyond conventional media to encompass interactive educational solutions and advanced platforms.
The fair’s exhibits featured a diverse range of digital tools, including e-reading platforms and QR codes that provide instant access to hundreds of titles. Additionally, interactive displays and smart screens allowed visitors to browse books and view preview copies. This integration of paper and digital formats underscores ongoing efforts to modernize knowledge delivery, making it more flexible and aligned with contemporary standards.
In an effort to enhance educational content, specialized institutions participated in the event by showcasing comprehensive learning applications. Mohamed Anas Khaled Al-Ahmed, representing Dar Al-Ilm wal-Irfan, explained that the institution has developed free applications for teaching Tajweed and the Holy Quran. Notable examples include the “Tahthib al-Lisan” (Refining the Tongue) and the video-supported “Makharij al-Huroof” (Letter Articulation Points) applications. Al-Ahmed emphasized that these services aim to disseminate knowledge widely both within Syria and abroad, supported by the center’s branches in Gaziantep, Aleppo, and Al-Hasakah, alongside printed materials and volunteer instructors.
Furthermore, the fair highlighted the role of technology in simplifying the book-buying process. Mohamed Bakour, a lecturer at the Faculty of Education in Idlib, praised the introduction of electronic payment solutions and modern banking cards at the event. He described this as a qualitative step that removed previous obstacles readers faced when attempting to acquire specific titles.
Bakour shared his personal experience of successfully finding specialized books on “Educational Leadership” that were previously inaccessible due to payment restrictions. He also noted the positive impact of audiobooks on developing mental and linguistic capabilities, citing platforms such as “Al-Maktaba al-Shamela” and various storytelling applications.
This landscape at the Idlib Book Fair reflects a synthesis of tradition and modernity. By employing digital tools to support learning and intellectual empowerment, the event opens new horizons for a wide range of readers and students to access knowledge content with greater ease and accessibility.
